  After an almost 20km hike from scenic world around the cliff walk, through the back streets of Leura, to Everglades Gardens then into Leura itself, all we felt like from their menu (due to snacks on our walk) was a large bowl of hot chips.
  
  Had they had any other hot food on the menu or in the window display that was vegan, we may have ordered something else.
  
  We ordered one large bowl of hot chips to share, and an iced soy latte for my daughter. After ordering, we were glared at with a response of "and that's all you're getting?" There was even a slight roll of the eyes.
  
  Mind you, those two items cost a ridiculous $18 - something we would never be charged in Brisbane, let alone prices we've paid for much better food in Sydney whenever we come down to visit.
  
  Upon looking through online reviews now, I wish we had avoided this place and just waited until we had made our way back to Katoomba.
  
  I heard another party of two being told abruptly that the kitchen was closing in half an hour so they walked out.
  
  5 minutes afterwards, a large group of 12 or so overseas tourists entered the cafe and were promptly seated and handed menus.
  
  Go figure.
